Chase Robert Hartung, 16, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away on April 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 26, 2010, in Cincinnati, Ohio, his passing has left his family, friends, teammates, and community heartbroken as they reflect on a life marked by courage, kindness, and resilience.
At just eight years old, Chase moved with his family to Tennessee, where he quickly adapted to a new environment, formed strong friendships, and built meaningful memories that stayed with him throughout his life.
Chase faced a courageous four-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Throughout his illness, he was widely admired for his strength, quiet bravery, and determination. Even through difficult treatments and setbacks, he continued to show remarkable resilience and an unwavering spirit.
He had a deep love for sports, especially football, and proudly played for the Brentwood Blaze. Being part of the team brought him joy, purpose, and lasting friendships. Outside of sports, Chase deeply valued time with his family.
He enjoyed simple and meaningful moments such as watching movies with his sister Addy, trading Pokémon cards with Reese, and spending time with his younger brother Crosley, often brightening his day with thoughtful gestures and playful surprises.
Chase also enjoyed life’s everyday joys, including Skyline Chili, Star Wars, camping trips, and boating with family and friends. Those who knew him describe him as funny, witty, and uplifting—someone who could bring light into any room he entered.
He is preceded in death by his cousin, Julia Hartung. He is survived by his parents, Justin and Cindy Hartung; his siblings Addy, Reese, and Crosley Hartung; his paternal grandparents Mike and Teri Hartung; his maternal grandparents Bill and Colleen Troehler; his beloved dog Lily; and many extended family members and friends who deeply loved him.
His family has shared that while their hearts are broken, they find comfort in faith and the belief that Chase is now at peace, free from illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, followed by burial at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to pediatric oncology and cancer support organizations including Hey! I’m Here for You, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and Art Helps Cancer.
