James “Jim” Abner Bauer, age 67, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on April 6, 2026, at his home. Born on July 13, 1958, to the late John and Elizabeth Bauer, his passing has left his family, friends, and community mourning the loss of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend.
Jim began his military service in November 1977, where he served as a combat paratrooper before advancing into Radiology. He completed his military service in September 1983 and went on to build a distinguished civilian career in Radiology that spanned more than 30 years, demonstrating dedication, skill, and professionalism throughout his life’s work.
Beyond his career, Jim was known for his active and grounded lifestyle. He was an avid distance runner who found peace in nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed carpentry projects and took pride in caring for his lawn. He was also a devoted sports fan, often watching the Green Bay Packers and the New York Mets with his family.
Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Lelani Bauer Leed. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Diane Riccio Bauer; his sons James Bauer, Matthew (Cara-Joy) Bauer, and Kevin Bauer; his daughter Jennifer Turpin; his beloved grandson Aiden Turpin; his cherished dog Jack; his brothers Thomas (Debra) Bauer and David Bauer; his sister-in-law Anne (John) Russo; and several nieces and nephews including John Leed, Timothy Leed, John Sena, Douglas Sena, and Jacqueline Sena, along with many other loving family members.
A graveside interment with military honors will take place at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, honoring his service and commitment to his country.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
