A deadly shooting in Chicago has left one man dead and three women injured following an afternoon incident in the Little Village neighborhood.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred on April 22, 2026, at approximately 4:34 p.m. in the 3400 block of West 26th Street. A 46-year-old male and three female victims were standing near a sidewalk when an unknown offender opened fire, striking all four individuals.
The 46-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Among the injured:
- A 42-year-old woman (initially reported as an unknown age) suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back and transported herself to the hospital. She was initially listed in critical condition.
- A 25-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the face and was transported to the hospital, where she was reported to be in fair condition.
- A 47-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was also transported to the hospital, initially listed in good condition.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased male, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators from Area Four Detectives are actively working the case, and no suspects are currently in custody. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a possible motive, remain under investigation.
Residents in the area expressed concern following the incident, as violence in broad daylight continues to raise safety concerns within the community. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
