Authorities in Las Vegas have arrested a woman suspected of driving under the influence after she allegedly struck both an ambulance and a police patrol vehicle late Wednesday night.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident began when officers responded to a report of a driver asleep behind the wheel in a parking lot near the Lake Mead and Decatur shopping area. When an officer and a paramedic attempted to make contact, the driver reportedly refused to comply with commands, leading to a confrontation.
During the encounter, the suspect allegedly put the vehicle into drive, colliding with both an LVMPD patrol car and an ambulance. The impact caused damage to both emergency vehicles and resulted in injuries to a paramedic and a police officer, who were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday morning, authorities located the vehicle involved and found the suspect inside. Police say another altercation occurred during the arrest before the woman was ultimately taken into custody.
Officials confirmed that no additional officers were injured. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including potential charges related to suspected DUI and assault.
