Darian David Atwood Obituary, Death: Warsaw Community Mourns 16-Year-Old Athlete — Warsaw, Ohio
It is with deep sorrow that we remember Darian David Atwood, age 16, of Warsaw, Ohio, who passed away on April 20, 2026. His passing has left his family, friends, teammates, and the entire community grieving the loss of a young life filled with promise and determination.
Born on January 6, 2010, in Zanesville, Ohio, Darian was the beloved son of Jonathan C. Atwood and Haylee A. Nixon. At the time of his passing, he was a freshman at River View High School, where he was actively involved in both academics and athletics.
From an early age, Darian showed a deep passion for sports. He excelled in baseball, soccer, and wrestling, earning recognition as an All-Star athlete. Coaches and teammates admired his competitive spirit, dedication, and commitment to teamwork. He brought energy and positivity wherever he went, both on and off the field.
Outside of school, Darian enjoyed spending time outdoors. He had a love for hunting and riding motorcycles, often sharing those moments with friends and family. Known for his strong will and determination, he approached life with enthusiasm and a desire to succeed. He also held a strong faith that guided his outlook and decisions.
Those who knew Darian remember him as a young man with a bright personality and a great sense of humor. He had a natural ability to make others laugh and feel at ease, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Looking toward the future, he had expressed a desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career as an Army Ranger.
Darian is survived by his father, Jonathan Atwood of Warsaw, and his mother, Haylee Nixon of Warsaw; his siblings, Drake Atwood and Dezlynn Atwood; and his grandparents, Trecia Atwood of Coshocton, David and Beth Nixon of Warsaw, and Dave and Ann Laughlin of Coshocton. He is also remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and his beloved dog, Creed. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Stanley Atwood, and several great-grandparents.
Funeral Arrangements & Services
Funeral services will be held at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, Ohio, with burial to follow at Dutch Run Cemetery near his home. Visitation will take place the evening prior to the service.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to River View Athletic Boosters in honor of Darian’s passion for sports.
Darian David Atwood will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, determination, and the joy he brought into the lives of others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
