It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Timothy David McGinnis Sr., 59, of Kingston, Ohio, who went home to be with his Savior on April 17, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife. After a courageous 13-year battle with cancer, Timothy faced his illness with unwavering faith, strength, and perseverance, never allowing it to diminish his spirit or the impact he had on those around him.
Born on June 21, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, Timothy was the son of William and Carolyn McGinnis (Cannon). From an early age, he demonstrated a deep commitment to faith, family, and service. His life was rooted in his devotion to God, which guided his actions, relationships, and purpose.
Timothy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend. He carried himself with humility, compassion, and a genuine love for people. Those who knew him often speak of his ability to uplift others, offer guidance, and bring comfort even in difficult times. His presence was a source of encouragement, and his words often carried wisdom that left a lasting impression.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Babette McGinnis (Petzold); his children Rebecca (Steven) Culp, Timothy (Elise) McGinnis Jr., Nathaniel (Toni) McGinnis, and Meredith (Ross) Picklesimer; and his cherished grandchildren Judah, Malachi, Charlotte, Antoinette, Aria, Asher, Corbin, Emmalee, Evelyn, Cooper, and Steven. He is also survived by his father, William (Carolyn) Lee McGinnis; siblings Bill (Janie) McGinnis and Melinda (Thomas) Berry; along with many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn McGinnis.
Timothy shared a beautiful love story with his wife Monica that began during their teenage years in Plainwell, Michigan. Their bond grew through shared faith, work, and friendship, eventually leading to their marriage in 1985. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family, sharing 40 meaningful years side by side.
A devoted minister of the gospel for over three decades, Timothy co-founded New Life Church in Circleville, Ohio, in February 2000 alongside his wife and children. He faithfully served as lead pastor for 25 years, dedicating his life to ministry, teaching, and guiding others in their spiritual journey. His leadership and service touched countless lives and built a strong, faith-centered community.
Outside of ministry, Timothy found joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with Monica, preaching, golfing, and sharing laughter with loved ones. His life was rich in meaningful moments, and he treasured every opportunity to connect with those closest to him.
A celebration of life service will be held at New Life Church, 7766 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, Ohio, on May 2, 2026. Visitation will take place from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by the service from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi, Ohio, with a luncheon at New Life Church at 1:00 p.m.
