It is often said that you never fully understand the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. For those who loved Gage Michael McCoy, those moments have now become treasured memories that will be held close for a lifetime.
Gage Michael McCoy, affectionately known as “Bubby,” passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the age of 22 at his residence in Pontiac, Illinois. Born on April 1, 2004, in Pontiac, he was the beloved first-born son of Michael and Jennifer (Butcher) McCoy and the first grandchild in both the McCoy and Butcher families. His presence brought joy and pride from the very beginning.
He is survived by his parents; his brother, Trevor McCoy; grandparents Jess and Kathy Butcher Jr. and Fleda McCoy; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory. He is also remembered by his beloved dog, Rylee, and his close friend and “brother from another mother,” Kolin Cox. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Dennis McCoy and several great-grandparents.
Gage graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 2022 and attended Heartland Community College. He built his early career in accounting and bookkeeping, later serving as a Credit Analyst at the Bank of Pontiac, where he was proud of his work and contributions.
Gage was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and wide range of interests. He enjoyed online gaming, music, fishing, shooting, basketball, golf, working out, and watching anime. He was also a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed Chinese food. Above all, he valued time spent with family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter and love.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and services are pending. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home.
Gage will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
