According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers responded to the scene near Bowie Street and West Third Street. Authorities confirmed that the derailment was non-hazardous, and no immediate danger to the public has been identified.
Union Pacific and Amtrak have been notified and are involved in assessing the situation. The derailment has also impacted additional areas, with railroad crossings blocked at 1300 W. Oltorf Street and Mary Street in south Austin.
