The fatal accident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and A Road, east of Bertrand. According to preliminary reports, a westbound Dodge pickup attempted to turn south onto A Road and entered the path of an oncoming semi-truck traveling eastbound. The collision was severe, and Connor, who was a passenger in the pickup, suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
The driver of the pickup sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Kearney, while the semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.
